Staff members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General and to assignment by him or her. In this context, all staff are expected to move periodically to new functions in their careers in accordance with established rules and procedures.
Appointment against this post is on a local basis. The candidate will be responsible for any travel expenses incurred in order to take any examination at the duty station. The candidate would be responsible for any travel, shipment relocation or family arrangements and costs, which may be required to assume this position as a local recruit at the duty station, if selected.
Extension of the appointment is subject to Extension of the mandate and/or the availability of the funds.

This position is located in the Programme Management Unit in the Programme Planning and Operations Division.

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Programme Planning and Operations Division and the direct supervision of the Chief Programme Management Unit, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
Participates in the implementation and use of UMOJA and its four components: ECC, ESS, SRM and BI.
Participates in general in the provision of Business Intelligence Services, particularly in the cross-functional data analysis.
Supports the monitoring of key indicators and activities, such as revenues, expenditures, and transactions, by using Key Metrics in the BI.
Applies Workspace analysis, Bex, Webl and dashboards in the generation of management reports for monitoring and for organizational accountability purposes.
Follows up and contributes to the development of repository of projects and programmes (SAP-HANA) and dashboards with colleagues from other Departments of the UN Secretariat.
Customizes applications of BI for monitoring and reporting purposes.
Improves current reports for the administration of extrabudgetary funds, including further improving the timeliness of responses to client departments and offices.
Provide assistance in the retrieval, formatting and verification of reports obtained from Umoja; verify the accuracy of extracted data bringing discrepancies to the attention of the Project Officers for necessary adjustments.
Develops and tests reports using UN established standards.
Serves as team member in the planning, specification, design, development, implementation and support of computer application systems; independently liaises with users to define and specify requirements.
Prepares technical and user documentation, as well as training materials and conducts technical presentations.
Prepares and delivers training sessions on relevant computer applications already deployed.
Enhances reporting systems relating to the implementation of extra budgetary funds to ensure the economical and proper use of resources;
Maintains functional specifications for computer application systems, programs and procedures developed and/or modified.
Provides support and responds to ad-hoc users requests.
Drafts correspondence and communications, including work plan revisions and other related issues, as well as prepares unit contributions for a variety of periodic reports.
Performs other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Studies on information system programming and management is required. Studies on accounting or finance is required.
At least seven years of experience in programme or project administration, technical cooperation or related area are required. Experience in information systems analysis, systems administration and maintenance and software development is required. Experience in managing ERP systems is required. Experience in management of development cooperation projects is desirable. Management of data bases and in preparing complex management reports and presentations is desirable. Experience providing training in information system analysis is desirable.
